History

IML Security Supply, founded in 1966 by Jay Hickenlooper as Intermountain Lock & Supply, began with Jay working in a lock shop basement managing his father’s locksmithing inventory. In 1970, the company acquired its first building in Salt Lake City in the location still occupied today as IML headquarters. Over the next 5 decades, IML transformed to a full-line security hardware distributor and expanded to ten locations in eight states. IML has fast become a leading wholesale distributor in the industry while staying true to Jay’s vision of trust, relationship and service.

IML Security Supply is a wholesale distributor focused on the supply of hardware and security products. We offer a wide range of items from door hardware and locksmith supplies to access control and video equipment. We believe our focus on operational excellence while building a business around great people are the keys to success in this industry. These focuses are amplified by our investment of over $80 million in inventory spread out over ten locations to ensure the right product is as close to you as possible. IML is also highly invested in training and education, both for our own employees and for you, our customer, with a goal of making our team and yours the most knowledgeable in the industry.
